Metal: Copper drops but most metals stable on LME

The price of copper continues to be affected by the European economic crisis, but other metals have seen only minor price falls or even increases.

Copper fell yesterday to $7,470 (£4,680) from $7,694 (£4,812) on Wednesday.

Aluminium was up a touch on Thursday to $2,134 (£1,337) from $2,127 (£1,330) the day before. Alloy was unchanged on $2,055 but was up yesterday by £3 to £1,288.

Lead was down to $1,945 (£1,219) yesterday from Wednesday’s $1,990 (£1,245). Nickel was lower at $18,150 (£11,371) from $18,200 (£11,384).

Tin fell to $21,205 (£13,286) on Thursday from $21,750 (£13,604) a day earlier. Zinc was lower at $1,889 (£1,184) from $1,954 (£1,222).

Steel increased to $530 (£332) from $525 (£328) on Wednesday.
