Chinese New Year holiday may slow down buying; thus, the market situation may be clearer after the holiday.
Jan. 19 (Bloomberg) -- The European Commission, the
regulator of the European Union’s emissions trading system, said
it will suspend transactions in all national registries until at
least Jan. 26.
“Ridiculously” high paper prices look set to stay according to industry experts, squeezing the margins of paper mills.
According to MRW prices, news and pams are currently trading around the £110-115 per tonne mark with some in the industry reporting prices of £120 per tonne. The price of cardboard per tonne is around £115-125. According to industry figures this does not look set to change until April or May this year.
The export prices of European steel scrap kept increasing that the price of shredded scrap is close to US$500/ton FOB Rotterdam, up by US$25/ton from last week.
Glass recyclers are keeping their fingers crossed that the recent rise in the PRN glass price is a sign of a market recovery, following an increase in trading price to £8-£10 per tonne.
