MRW : Wood waste exports increase six-fold

The amount of wood waste going to export increased six-fold in 2010, according to statistics from the Wood Recyclers Association (WRA). Produced from its members’ data, the annual market statistics for 2010 show that 540,000 tonnes of wood was exported, which is 457,000 tonnes higher than in 2009, when WRA members exported 83,000 tonnes.

High paper prices look set to stay

“Ridiculously” high paper prices look set to stay according to industry experts, squeezing the margins of paper mills. According to MRW prices, news and pams are currently trading around the £110-115 per tonne mark with some in the industry reporting prices of £120 per tonne. The price of cardboard per tonne is around £115-125. According to industry figures this does not look set to change until April or May this year.
